I'm on a roll!

Well, I didn't get any clay time at all yesterday. I shouldn't complain, I was enjoying good food and good company instead! I didn't really want to go (because I'm miserable like that) but I'm so glad I did :)

And today I seem to be on a roll! I've made three more tortoises, and shells for two of them, and I'm not ready to stop yet!

To support the shells while they dry I've been using old wash balls!!

I can't decide whether to put handles on the top of the shells or not. Scott thinks they'll be fine without. What do you think?

Now let me see... what shall I make next...

Good for you, Linda, so good to see you rolling! Love the turtles, I for one would like them w/o the handles. Lovely, functional little creatures! Looking forward to the glazing on these.

Thanks for the suggestion on Mona's blog re the difficulty I am having with my portraits, I did try that -- alot harder than you would think to find certain poses, I ended up having a photo shoot with a live dog to get certain body positions. Each portrait will be a challenge -- I will also have to spend more time on the preliminary sketches than I do when I can really look at something while I am working on it.

Stay on a roll!

Thank so much Angela! I'm getting really impatient to colour the top with slip and carve a pattern in them, but they're still too soft! Maybe tomorrow :)

I'm sorry my suggestion wasn't very helpful. I'm glad you managed to get a model to pose for you though!

I vote for no handles Linda. I think folks will love these! Can't wait to see what they will look like with glaze

Thank you Kathy! Me neither! It might be quite a long wait until I fill the kiln though!

So no handles it is then :)

ok i haven't been reading others or writing my own blog for weeks. i'm sooooo behind! the turtles are cute! no handles unless you're gonna make it somethign sitting on the turtles back. even then i'd do most w/o. can't wait to see them finished. if you make lots of them you can do the pink & purple thing on one lol

I know what you mean Kim, it's so easy to fall behind with blogs, but we tend to keep up to date with each other on FB anyway :)

Thank you, I'm glad you like them :) I can't wait to see them done either! And I'm definitely doing a pink and purple one!!
